Friday was a good day. I went to café doc for a caffe con latte and then headed out for the office. I had a chance to hang out with the AEs until I had a meeting with Roberto. Then, like clockwork, lunch time came at 1:00 PM and we all headed off to “Bon Appetito” Something I didn’t realize earlier is that when customers call in during lunch, they have to leave a message until we get back… food comes first! (my kind of place!) So we came back from lunch for our routine coffee break and worked on some phone and email support. I had the chance of using the Google translator to solve email support issues with the Italian AEs. This was an awesome experience to see what kind of applications our Italian customers are building.
After work, Jaime and I walked over to the local electronics store to find an American/European adapter for my American electronics. This cost a hefty 30 USD, which fits in well with how much more it costs to live in
Italy. (ex. Corona = 8 euros)
We headed home to get ready for a “Disco”. I figured out afterwards that a “Disco” in Europe is MUCH different than a “Disco” in
America. Here in Italy, a “Disco” consists of DJs spinning some techno, house, and trance music until 6 in the morning. I have never been around so many people that I didn’t understand a word they were saying. Jaime was trying to tell me what to say to people, but they would usually return with laughter or this look of confusion… Jaime, what were you having me say? Haha
Then, I started watching Jaime saying goodbye to people and giving them a kiss on each cheek. So I thought that I should try it and failed miserably. I would go in for the left side kiss first and then she would to so we almost kissed lips so I quickly tried changing sides and she did to… Man, talk about an awkward moment! At the Disco, we met girls from all over Italy as well as England, Russia, Sweden, and
Spain. So the partying continued till about 6:30 AM until it was time for us to go home.
As you can probably imagine, Saturday was very unproductive. From the late night partying I ended up sleeping all day.
Well, I hope everyone is doing well back in America and hopefully this little story will brighten you day! J I’ll fill you in next time with my trip to the Bellagio at Lake Como.
P.S. Sorry no pics yet… I just got my American to European electronic adapter yesterday. I will definitely have pics of Lake Como though
Jordo
Haha Jordo this is great! Mr. King of Austin becomes Mr. Awkward in Italy — I love it!
You’ll get it down man, keep up the good work!
Wish there was a video camera to go along with all this…. Gotta love the awkward moments
